Karnataka is a state in the south western region of India. The granite towers of Shravanabelagola rise to a height of 58 meters (190 ft), making them the tallest free-standing stone structures in Asia. The Krishna Raja Sagara dam is built across the Kaveri river and supplies water to Mysore and Bangalore. The Nandi Hills are located near Bangalore at an altitude of 1,478 meters (4,854 ft). Karnataka has 25 wildlife sanctuaries and five national parks, which attract tourists from all over India and the world.
